Henley Days – Dancing on The Rooftops

Now, ever since watching Mary Poppins in my formative years, I have had a slight obsession with rooftops.  You can imagine my excitement when finally living in a house with an open fire I had to give a real life Chimney Sweep a call.  I did manage to refrain from humming “Chim Chim Cher-ee” (almost – I don’t think he heard me) whilst he was doing his thing but despite his lack of dancing on my rooftop my passion still remains.  This shot was taken on a very early Spring Day when the moon was high in the sky and the shadows were dancing on the rooftops.

Henley On Thames is one of those rare places that has just a little sprinkle of magic about it.  It is the sort of place where childhood dreams of talking animals and fairy woodlands might just (if you wiggle your nose and flutter your eyelashes) come true.  There is more than a hint of fine English eccentricity woven deep into the fabric of the place.  Don’t even get me started on the bliss of days spent drifting along the Thames in a little wooden boat, laden with a delicious feast of storybook proportions and a bottle (or two) of icy pink fizz.

In this series, I hope to show you a little slice of life in this gorgeous English town. (For more images in this series then why pop over to my Henley Days page)

For more of my work then why not have a gander at my Etsy shop?
