A very happy Dydd Santes Dwynwen (Welsh Valentines Day)

A very happy Dydd Santes Dwynwen (Welsh Valentines Day) to you all.

Now, as you might have already gathered I do love any excuse for a celebration and today is St Dwynwen’s Day (Dydd Santes Dwynwen) which is sort of like a Welsh Valentines day.

Dwynwen was a beautiful young woman who had her heart broken (a few different versions of that story) and it basically all ended up with someone getting frozen in ice, Dwynwen taking a vow never to marry, instead becoming the patron saint of lovers (getting all chummy with God to help meet the hopes and dreams of true lovers) and spending the rest of her days in possibly one of the most remote and beautiful places in the world. Llanddwyn Island.

Now, as well as attempting to spend my afternoon making heart shaped macaroons, I thought that in honour of love and the wonderful St Dwynwen, I would provide a few shots of the stunning Llanddwyn Island to feast your eyes on.

May all your happy love dreams come true, the sun always shine on your face and a carpet of petals lay under your feet!
