One grey and rainy summers day (this is Britain after all) I was delighted to discover that there is in fact some sunshine out there and I have been nominated for the “Sunshine Award” by the wonderful and talented http://deepsoulphotography.wordpress.com/. What an honour.
I would like to thank the aforementioned http://deepsoulphotography.wordpress.com/, my parents, my partner, my cat, the postman, the BT Infinity engineer, the woman on the bus that likes to “hairdry” her cat and who made me smile yesterday afternoon, the fine folk of London town, my friends, Barry the monkey…………………sorry, getting a little carried away. The delight has obviously gone to my head somewhat!
The Sunshine Award is given to those blogs “which contribute to the blogging community in a positive or inspirational way.” Now this award isn’t just all about “me, me, me” (ridiculous I know) and as part of it, it is my responsibility to share the love and let you delightful people into the secrets of my own personal “Blog Stalking habits” by picking 10 of the ones that I think make my life just a little bit better for their existence. So in no particular order (and very hard to chose just 10) here are my Sunshine Award nominations!
1. Bones, mugs & harmony http://binabrakken.wordpress.com/
I love this blog. Shelby Brakken is a remarkably talented photographer and her work is nothing short of a delicious feast for the eyes.
2. Jumping From Cliffs http://jumpingfromcliffs.wordpress.com/
The adventures of a new writer trying to make his mark on the world. This is defo one to watch. I love his style of writing and am excited about seeing his journey unfold. Plus I also really want to read the next bit of his book. He’s such a tease!
3. Perpetuum Mobile http://citywagon.wordpress.com/
Fabulous photography blog which focuses on images taken of people on public transport. Wonderful stuff and similar to my Tube Stories project (https://illustriouspeacock.wordpress.com/photography-4/tube-stories/), which is probably why I love it quite as much as I do. Always reassuring to find someone else who stalks people on public transport with a camera. Makes me feel almost normal.
4. We Heart Vintage.co http://weheartvintage.co/
A vintage orgy for the eyes. I could spend hours here wandering around, pouting, pretending I am as glamorous as Ava Gardner in her floppy white hat. I’m completely hooked.
5. Hovercraftdoggy http://hovercraftdoggy.com/
Now what a fabulous name! It is worth looking at for the name alone but when you get there you might be tempted to stay and have a little look at all the deliciously stylish things that this Blog is full of. Design, Architecture, Art, Photography…and a name that summons up an image of a room of dogs all hovering about one inch above the ground and then zipping around like furry little dodgem cars. Love it.
6. Olivia Ricci http://oliviaricci.wordpress.com/
Olivia Ricci is a talented lady who I think we will be seeing a lot more of in the years to come. Talented as both a photographer and designer, in fact I would wager that she is something of a renaissance woman. Keep your eyes firmly on her I say. She is going to go further than the Hubble telescope.
7. Jack Brewis http://jackbrewis.wordpress.com/
A fellow London life observer and talented photographer and writer. I could spend hours here (and pretty often do). It is like sitting in a cafe, watching the world go by but in the comfort of your own living room! Brilliant.
8. By Wilma http://bywilma.com/
I love this blog. It if full of gorgeous eye-candy and has some fabulous turorials. Wilma…I love you!
9. My New Roots http://mynewroots.blogspot.co.uk/
Yum, yum, yum and yum. This gorgeous Blog is bursting with deliciousness. The recipe for lentil salad is so good that my mouth is watering just thinking about it! Mmmm….
10. A Beautiful Mess http://www.abeautifulmess.com/
This is possibly my very favourite blog of all time. I have to get my daily fix. It is full of a zillion things that make life that little bit more beautiful! I’m completely hooked.
The second (or possibly even third part – “thank person that nominated….nominate 10” and then….) of this sunshiny award is to answer a series of questions. Which I plan to do through the medium of mime. Failing that, as you can see I have called in the help of my faithful friend the camera. Answers above, questions below.
1. What is your favourite colour?
2. What is your favourite animal?
3. What is your favourite number?
4. What is your favourite drink?
5.What is your favourite website?
6. What are your passions?
7. Do you prefer getting or giving presents?
8. What is your favourite pattern?
9. What is your favourite day of the week?
10. What is your favourite flower?
On that note I shall drift off into the sunset. I hope that you enjoy stalking my ten sunshiny blogs as much as I do.
